Agent skill

The skill file that teaches an AI agent the whole API, and how to add it to Claude or another agent.

What it is

/skill.md is one markdown file that teaches an agent to use this API: getting a key, the calls that answer common questions, the limits, the errors and the usual way through a task. Its lists of endpoints, MCP tools and plans are filled in from the same registry as these pages each time anything changes, so it always matches the API.

It is also published where agents look for skills: /.well-known/agent-skills/basketballapi/SKILL.md, listed in /.well-known/agent-skills/index.json.

Adding it

Claude Code: save it as ~/.claude/skills/basketballapi/SKILL.md.
The Claude apps: upload it as a skill in Claude's settings.
Any other agent: give it the address https://basketballapi.net/skill.md, or the file itself.

Skill or MCP

The skill teaches an agent to write calls with your key, in its own code. The MCP server gives an assistant tools it calls directly. Many agents use both: the skill for the shape of the API, MCP for the answers.
